Jo Southernwood

Projects Manager

Jo joined Carbon Descent after working on improving the environmental credentials of a food manufacture in North London for 2 years. She is a specialist in improving energy efficiency, investigating the feasibility of renewable energy technologies, packaging recycling and reduction and the development of sustainable development policies. Jo's role as Consultancy & Installations Manager at Carbon Descent includes carrying out energy and water audits, project management, and desk based research on renewable and energy efficient technologies.

Carbon Descent experience:

  • Reduced electricity use by approximately 20% at a small food manufacturer by monitoring energy use and implementing low and no cost energy saving measures and installing new energy saving technologies,
  • Wind turbine feasibility study for an SME in North London,
  • Solar thermal and PV feasibility study for site in North London,
  • Developing sustainable development policies and delivering training on energy and waste management for business,
  • Conducting energy and water audits for businesses in the hospitality sector through the Greener Foods Programme,
  • Delivery of the Ecostiler project - a regeneration project in the London Borough of Lambeth focussing on improving the energy efficiency of two housing estates, installing new renewable energy capacity and improving existing district heating schemes.


Qualifications:

MEng Chemical Engineering
MSc in Sustainable Development for SME's (in progress)
NVQ Level 4 Management (in progress)
Affiliate member of the Institute of Environmental Managers and Assessors
